Caregiving and the Holidays

Posted on Wed, December 14, 2011 at 9:17 pm

We all know that the holidays are a very busy time of year for everyone.  People frantically rush home to prepare dinner for their family then race to the mall to desperately try and find the perfect gift for everyone on their list.  It\'s no wonder why caregivers find the holidays an especially stressful time of year.  If you are caring for an aged loved one please remember that you must take care of yourself first because you cannot care for your loved one if you are sick.  Now is an important time to ask friends and relatives for help.  Try to alleviate some of your workload by asking for help, whether it be preparing meals for your loved one, visiting, housekeeping, grocery shopping, or whatever you need to be able to not only get through the holidays, but also to enjoy the holidays.  You work so hard juggling your family, job, household duties, and caregiving, you deserve to enjoy this extra special time of year.
