My Grandma has only been there for 9 days and we have had to stick up for and defend her 7 out of the 9. When the weekend staff came on what a difference they were worse! Do not use this facility unless you hate your loved one.

My mother spent almost a year at this facility. Some staff members are to be complimented on how well they took care of my mom's needs. She had some special needs with diet etc and for the most part the home was accommodating. Though I wanted her to change as I felt the overall care and cleaniness of the home was lacking, she had a hard time with change. What is the most shocking though is what transpired after her passing. When my husband and I went to collect her belonging, we found missing was a case where my mom kept her ID, some cash, and her rings. We reported this to the staff and someone from administration came to take my report telling me the home was under police investigations due to other reported thefts. She also gave me the police officer's name of which I called her while still at the home to file a report with her also. Weeks went by and on spec I called the home speaking to the current administrator asking if they had anything to share with me, basically just to touch base with them. To my surprise, they had found some of my mom's ID in another residents room. While I felt a glimmer of hope that I might get her rings back (which is really all I want), this was quickly squashed by the administrator. I truly was shocked at her attitude towards me and this situation. She was defencive especially when I found out through our conversation that she had her ID for a few days perhaps more and didnt contact me. She blamed me saying that I did not report it to her so she had no knowledge of my situation, then on to blame her staff saying. they should have called me not her. Her responses to me were cold and lack any compassion. I am/was so surprised that a home would hire such a person for this role. At one point in our conversation I had to say to her "why are you talking to me this way, I am not the criminal" to which she responded "neither am I". Not once did I hear from her that she was sorry for my loss, I was just blown off saying they have handled the situation and found nothing more and I could pick up her ID. I would never recommend this home to anyone!!

The enviroment is changing, lot's of new staff fresh idea's. I can see a difference in staff morale. My father has been at mary bucke for 3 years this is the best it's been. Keep on plugging away staff, I see the improvements.

I think the nurses are doing a fine job and the PSW's are doing their job well.

Admire the way staff treat the residents in a cheerful and friendly manner. Medical attention is swift and individual attention is given to each resident. Building is cramped and I am often concerned with safety in removing residents in case of fire. Central area is very congested with receiving desk and patient wheelchairs, etc. Food is varied and menues are well planned and seasonal food is applied. Activities could improve as well as promoting more volunteers during the day. Residents rooms are adequate and have big picture windows for added light.

Resident call bells often can ring for 30 to 60 minutes with no one bothering to answer them. PSW and HCA staff are well trained but due to bare-bone staffing can rarely complate all their tasks or answer call bells promptly. The doctor assigned to the home rarely examines residents. Some residents have said they have not even met the doctor and that is after being there near a year. Administration staff are very disinterested in the residents and can at times not even identify a resident by name. Several family members and staff have stated that administration staff are exceptionally rude. Especially the home administrator who several times has tried to blame her lack of action on a situation on either the resident's family, the resident, or the staff looking after them.

I would like to start of by saying I had a family friend whom had just been transfered from this facility. First reason I found that the administrator is not very approachable at all lacking social skills and didnt even know my loved one by name. Her favorite place to sit was by the main office where many times on my visit I would find the administrator on her cell phone more times then I can count . I found that the PSW's are lacking apprication in what they do its with them that home is run I have never heard a thank you at all to them other than myself and the other residents families whom truly appricate what they do there job is not easy. I can recall just before Christmas I was in there sitting with my family member by the front office door and the administrator was walking to the bathroom door a staff member was starting her shift around 145pm as she came in she said Hi Barb , and she didnt even bother to look up or say hello to that worker or nothing just went on the the bathroom. I find behavior like that very disturbing and not acceptable nor tolerated.. After my relative got transferred to a new facilty where the *boss*knows all the residents by name chats with her staff members and got to know our family wants and needs I could never recommend this home to anyone unless they reorganized the management staff . I also did notice that activity management spent more time in the front office then doing what she is trained to do. On the upscale of things I would like to say to the PSW.s there keep up the good work and remember you are the driving force.

First off, Id like to say that my comments do not apply to all staff, but almost all, & most deffinitly including the full time-day staff! The over all atmosphere is unacceptable. The lack of activities, the lack of time for personal care & ingaging with the residents, as well as the lack of caring & respect for the residents is terrable & completly unacceptable. I found alot of residents were told to "hang on" bc the staff was too busy to get to them at the moment, resulting in a lot more incontinence issues, skin break downs & embarassment... Not to mention more work for the staff in the long run! The eating situation is just embarassing! They have 2 seperate setting for dinner.. in which the residents dont get enough time to eat the amount they would like to... resulting in having their plates taken away from them, while they are are still eating.. or told to hurry up! How discusting!! & then not to mention.. yes they have an evening snack cart.. but heavin for-bid you are someone who may need a few mins of help to eat that snack.. bc once again they do not have time to sit you.... So hopefully you arnt too hungry to go to bed.. & can manage to make it to breakfast the next morning & eat fast enough to get it all in!! The lack of respect for each other as employees is so rediculas. They are all adults but seem to act like children. The amount of gossip & bad mouthing that comes from the staff - Mostly the older staff is horrendous, resulting in poor communication & team work.. resulting in making your work load that much harder.. resulting in less interaction & care for your loved one!!! Not all but a few inperticular.. do not like to follow the guidelines for proper transferring ( IE the sit stand, hoyer lift) & feel the need to use them on their own.. Or just not using them at all!!!! Personally.. i dont wanna be responsible for hurting or dropping your loved one.. but Hey what do they care.. its just a job to them!! Clean?!!?? hmm.. not something i felt there. Have to pee..Dont sit on the toilet.. god only knows when it was last cleaned Properly. The house keeping ( not laundry) like to hang out & socialise for their whole shift, & pretend like they are working.. Oh & leave like 30 mines before their shift is over bc their husband comes early to get them!! You think someone who took the roll of the admistrator or D.O.C would be someone who has compassion, caring, loving, understanding, & wanna be a part of her company that she runs & should be proud of.. but instead she is unpleasent, uncaring, not understanding, sometimes rude.. & very unapproachable person!! She does not communicate well with the staff, nor comes out to the floor to see what really is going on.. and how hard some of her staff do work. Heav for-bid you acknowledge ur residents & staff members.. perhaps you to get off your cell phone! In my opinon alot of things need to change to make this home. "Home". Better attitudes from the staff, better care - (More staff members, more time to do care), more activities for the residents to do daily.. rather then stair out the window for 10 hrs at nothing, & over all moral.. if those things do not change.. unfortunalty this home will continue to be the sad, "dark" place that it is!! Again like I said.. this does include all the staff.. there are alot of good people that work there.. but unfortunalty those slim few can not change the over all moral & home themselves.. So until the those people who are not so great for the place are gone.. unfortunatly they will continue to recieve poor ratings!
