This facility would be better run if there was more PSW [Personal Support Workers - ed.] workers to provide the basic nursing care for our aging population. As of now that does not happen d/t lack of staff. The RPN's and RN's don't answer call bells or help when [we are] working short!!

They are understaffed and this needs to be rectified. See article from the ONA (in feb 2010). - Medications are not administered on time. And when staff is questioned they say things like "well she's lucky she even got them today" - Nice very professional!!!! - When residents fall they contact the family right away (good). Question: how come she wasn't watched at the time. We were offerred to see video camera - we got a photocopy of two pages (two frames) yeah that really tells me the whole story - thanks! So if a thief goes into the home and steals something and you need to report it to the Cops , are you going to give photocopies to the police officer - I doubt that. They would want to see the whole thing no?What's the real story here? She wasn't strapped into her chair? Did somebody push her by accident? Is the staff or upper management trying to cover themselves? I say yes, that is a definitive possibility. - Why would a 91 year old person have bruises on her legs and arms? Are nurses or aids to incompetent to bath an elderly person and because of these incompentencies they say that she did that to herself? I doubt that very much. Good thing we took pictures just in case, yeah that's right we can cover ourselves too!!! - What's the point of having a menu done up for her and insist that she gets her tea every meal. What's the point because it's not even given to her. - Why don't nurses and aids know what is going on every day with the patients. We tell them, oh grandma fell the other day etc...and they say "oh really? I didn't know that I'll be more careful" why would they say that she even has a big bruise on her head , is it not obvious?? - Why are patients put on Ativan without the family's consent? Is this to make their work easier for them ; to work with zombies so they can go on more breaks perhaps? - Why do nurses say "we are so understaffed" and why are management staff saying they are fully staffed? Is that because they don't want to get a pay cut and give more to the nurses, get more staff and therefore better quality care for the elderly? Well there's a concept!

My mother is there and if I could look after her myself I certainly would. She is not well treated at all. I have visited her on occasion and she smells terrible. She is not clean and I think she has bead sores. I am not very happy about the situation.
