It seems that there is a recent change within the home, where policies and procedures are creating a lack of true individual care . Seems that the running of a tight ship comes before resident needs. In one area where this is very noticeable is with the "revolving door" of staff in each of the four "houses"/ Just when you get to know a PSW and she/he gets to know the individual needs of the resident, they move off the floor. What use to be happy and caring teams of PSW's , now is a more regimented and hurried changing crew who are not happy. The management needs to address this and work to promote good solid teams where PSW's are respected for their care and time they spend with residents. There needs to be work towards marrying the need to stick to policies ; the short staffed issue ; and open and honest communication amonst teams wherein they do not have to worry about feeling they have no voice or power to promote change! You have lots of great PSW's who are there because they care and want to develop meaningful relationships built on trust with the residents, but no permission to do so!
