My grandmother was recently accepted to York. She was there for 4 days before we took her out, or rather had to call her an ambulance due to lack of care. In the 4 days that she was there she received not ONE of her medications that she relies on to survive. She was FORCED to get dressed in the morning and be wheeled to the dinning room where she was left for two hours. My Grandmother got out of intense radiation not even a week before, she cannot keep her head up due to loss of motion from her neck. When a family member went to go and visit her after her two hours in the dinning room (all she wanted to do was to stay in bed, is that so wrong?) they found her in a lift in the hallway where she had been left for who knows how long. In those 4 days my grandmother did not receive one bath or one friendly staff member just to ask her how she is feeling today. On the last day when my Aunt went in on her daily check up she found my grandmother covered in vomit, they hadn't bothered to clean her or her room, just left her covered in it. She was talking nonsense and her blood pressure was through the roof due to dehydration and low electrolytes and lack of the medication that she requires daily the "nurse" said 'oh dont worry we will keep an eye on her she doesnt need to go to the hospital" Ya right she doesnt need to go to the hospital you uncaring poor excuse for a human being. Within 48 hours of being hospitalized and back on her medication she has done a complete 360. She can talk, she has color and she has proper care. When the pharmacist from the hospital called York to get the list on her prescriptions from them she was hung up on 3 times "we dont have time right now" before she finally got the list faxed to her. Please please do not send one of your family members there, they will not be taken care of, they will be neglected and they will die from the lack of care. Our family is very fortunate to have only had to have our grandmother there for only 4 days, I wish it had been none at all...
