My mom was there for a few years before she passed, she was transferred from another LTC facility which we were not happy with. YES I would recommend this home, call them for a tour ask them anything, they have the time to answer all questions, nice place lots of supervision and accountability.

My mother was verbally abused in this home by one of the nurses. Do not leave your loved ones here.

I am shocked and appalled that this facility still operates. In researching and speaking to people in the community this home has a horrible reputation. The ministry does not investigate or hold this facility accountable. I am aware of circumstances where documentation is falsified, overmedicating residents with PRN's as per management direction, threats of management against staff and human rights violations. If video and sound monitoring occurred in all areas I believe that this place would be shut down. To measure a facility or any business' success review staff turnover rates. Talk to the ministry of labour and call the College of Nurses to review status of the nurses working here. I realize there are some good reviews but I would pose this question, did they talk to all staff or just to management? I caution against this place and their ideals the management team, owners and the ones in charge are corrupt and abusive towards their staff. They are not above medicating a whole ward to get a good rating.

One of my parents were is the retirement home. They were treated very well by most staff. I did find that there were a few that shouldn't be working with the elderly and did not treat either patients or family members with respect and were quite rude. I found numerous med errors and also heard from staff members that there were several serious incidents that had been covered up by the management . The staff turnover was very high. In one way the turnover was good because management did not tolerate staff not doing there job but on the other hand some very good staff left due to poor treatment and harrassment. The meals were great , there were alot of activities and outings, the home and rooms were always clean and comfortable. Mrs Fiddick interacted with the families and patients and was very good to them. I think if could recruit some good staff and keep them by treating them respectfully, put some checks in place with meds and deal with issues instead of covering them up they could be a top of the line facility.

I am quite surprised by some of the reveiws that I have read. I have my mother here and am also a nurse who works in acute care. We have had nothing but success with my Mom since her admission. She has now acheived a quality of life that I did not think would ever be possible. We had serious issues manageing her dementia related aggressive behaviors prior to her admission. Through the hard work of the staff, management and the Gcare team we can now see our Mom enjoying her days and participating with activities. They never ever gave up on her and kept trying to find what was going to work for her. They always kept us informed and invited us to be part of the team. The facility is clean and it is rare to smell any odors. I have seen staff leave and as a health care worker myself I have to say it was not a bad thing that they left. Not everyone is meant for this kind of work and if the management is willing to remove staff that are not quality then I say good for them! We are very very happy and just wish my Dad could have received the same quality of care my Mom is getting.

This nursing home FIDDICKS should be shut down ASAP they are very rude to staff and residents the company does not care about anything but filling their own pockets. The management team is a joke, I know to many people that have been treated like crap for this place, I have had 3 family members live here and was disgusted on how they where treated. I have herd a RN speak with profanity towards a resident and have seen them over medicate residents. but when the ministry is called or Ontario Collage Of Nurses, they turn their heads, it's BS that they are getting away with the things they do. People deserve to go to work and feel safe and welcome and the residents deserve to have a safe place to call home and know they will be taken care of. Management need to wake up and start treating their staff and residents like family not like crap, my honest opinion is that Mike Fiddick should take the dress off put on a pair of pants and be a man and not let his management team run all over him and make the decisions, stay clear of this place nothing but bad news and anyone in the area that has herd of Fiddicks will probably tell you the same thing, keep your family safe and do not send your loved ones here.
