My aunt lives at Golden Years and hates it. The staff makes noise at night and she can't sleep properly most nights.

The one thing i have noticed @ Golden Years is that it may not be a new fancy building & will agree they do need some improvements cosmetically. But the care provided for the residents in the facility is very good, the staff are dedicated to taking care of the residents that live there. They also take time to sit & talk to the residents, which seems to be lacking in these fancy new facilities, trust me i have heard many comments from family members that have left GY to go to a new facility & soon regret their decisions. The staff @ Golden years are wonderful & i personally think people get carried away with looks & need to consider whats important.Older people need interaction & fun,,, not just stuck in a fancy room with no one to talk too.I spend alot of time @ Gy & wouldn't move my loved one for anything,,fancy isn't everything.

My grandma has been in Golden years nursing home for almost a year now and the only thing i can say is WOW! I find that the home is very clean and orderly, the staff are great and my grandma loves it there. I am there everyday to visit and you get to know the staff that work with your loved one and let me tell you they are great. Everyday when i am there the PSW's that work with my grandma come in to say hello and give her a kiss. We have developed such a good repore with the PSW's that work with my grandma that it is like they are one of the family. All i can say is that i would not think about putting my grandma any other place. Thanks to everyone that takes care of my grandma. It takes speical people to look after the elderly and Golden years nursing home certainly have these people. Thanks again to the PSW's that work with my grandma, you guys know who you are !!!!!!

Very dark and dreary. Call bells would ring for a long time before anyone answered them. Residents looked unkept, seemed bored and unhappy, very little on their program calendar. I would not recommend it.

I've never seen a worse place for elderly people to live, in the Assisted Living area of this home. My Grandmother lives here. A very steep ramp to get into this section of the building, and residents lean over the railing and smoke, leaving hundreds of cigarette butts on the ground below. No one seems to care about this place, no pride at all is shown here. They put in a flower garden, well big woop-dee-do, clean the place up first! Dirt in the entrance way has been there for ages, even noticed a spider in a corner, and my Grandmother, has seen spiders, silverfish, ants and numerous other bugs inside her room! The staff tries (nursing) but at night that area is very short staffed. The food, I'd not eat myself, the only decent meal is breakfast. Grandma has said she's seen some nights where no one wanted to even try what was brought out to them for dinner. This place is plain disgusting, and I'd never, EVER recommend it to anyone for their elderly loved ones to live. This place needs new management from top to bottom, and a new cleaning staff as well!

I would not recommend this place to anyone staff is very rude and unprofessional. while i was there both different days and times staff was talking about other staff right in front of me and the other time and date two staff were fighting back and fourt with eachother about who was doing what job. Mangement seem to not care what is going on around them i mean if i can see stuff like that going on im sure they know whats going on MANGEMENT seems to favoritism workers there. This place needs to been evaluated by the minstry because enough is enough

My mother law as here for a short period awaiting a bed elsewhere. The home is old and has some charm but the management never put any effort into updating th ebuilding or the equipment for staff to use, they use tape on flooring and refurbish anything just so they dont have to spend money, I have seen it myself. Activation Manager is wonderful, cloan this guy he has always taken the time to speak with me and suggest new things, she loved any ativity that he ran, its hard to find a man with passion in this line of work, thats where the good news stops....literally The nursing department was horrible, they often didnt answer bells for 15 to 30 mins, they didnt change her pad, she had been forgotten more then once for dinner or ate late and it was cold, she was left unkept if they didnt have staff to cover a bath shift, she was often lonely and weeping and staff made no time for her ever. You DOC or DON is less then nice, she never smiles or spend any time with the residents and is always in her office, its sad to see a person in this role like this, what did these poor residents ever do to her, I actually hated coming into the home seeing her made me feel so guilty about leave her there. Food was OK but often cold and with no choices if she didnt answer right away, staff often talk about there weekends or evening while residnets are eating. Adminstrator doesnt get it, she has the wrong people in the wrong position and she doesnt listen I have complained many time to no avail. We have all these new rules and regulations in place with the MOH and yet where are they at this place, they are not doing a very good job and its very very sad. Please do not leave your loved one here please.
