My mother has been in this facility for a year and a half. Although, it was very difficult to place her here, it was important as it became impossible for my family to care for her needs. I have found this facility to be one of the best. However, I believe it very important that after someone is placed in a home, the family must continue their involvement. Someone from my family visits my mother every day, often twice a day. Also, we come up in the evening and often help her get dressed and into bed. In addition, we take her out for visits at our homes, etc. The staff appreciate our involvement and attention, and consequently I have found that my mother gets the very best of care. They know we are attentive and caring. We rarely complain, but if we have a concern we let them know in a positive and polite manner. After this experience with my mother, I believe that many people who are retired should become involved in volunteering at these types of facilities. Just spending a little time talking to the residents, or helping transport them to activities is very helpful. I plan to do so when I retire.
