My first impression of this nursing home upon walking in was the horrible stench,i personally asked staff if this place is ever cleaned and i was told it is cleaned daily. My father,s room was very dishelved and i found him on the bed with just a diaper on,a dirty one at that and had to get the staff to clean him as they didnt seem to realize that he was dirty. My father is a dignified man who did not even walk around his home in underwear so how appalling to find him lying on a bed with the door open,a roomate ,and lying there in a dirty diaper. He was severely dehydrated and weak and dying from starvation. When i inquired as to why he doesnt have iv fluids to treat the dehydration, the reply from nursing staff was that he keeps pulling the iv out,..At this stage of weakness i doubt my father had the strength to do that and i pointed out that there are ways to keep an iv in .There was no care or compassion and my father was paying a lot of money to be cared for.I also pointed out that he is full code and was surprised that a so called qualified nurse would use that as an excuse for starving someone to death. They only started the iv because i ordered them to do so..The doctor in charge also had a standing order for iv fluids for my father, but the staff were not bothered by this and only treated him because i told them to.My father also acquired c difficile infection while there and ended up in a hospital for 3 weeks..Upon his return to south terrace i called to speak with him,and was told that they cannot bring the phone to him as he is in isolation, only to learn a few hours later that he was sharing a room with another resident there and no form of isolation precaution was practiced. So if he not isolated why was his loved ones from afar being lied to and not able to speak with him,..On the other hand if he is in isolation why is he sharing a room with someone else, and no precautions are carried out.Is this a common practice in nursing homes ?or just at south terrace?I suppose the governing bodies that license these places need to answer that question..and i intend to find out.Does the general public even know this ?Within a few days of returning to this place after recovering at the hospital my father was dead..dead from neglect and starvation...Believe me i will not go away anytime soon..
