My mother has been a resident at St. Joseph's at Fleming for the past year. Because family is in town and able to visit often we are able to monitor her care more closely than most. My mothers experience and that of our family has too often been unsatisfactory. Her room is frequently less than clean, the information on what is acceptable and what is not acceptable varies from staff to staff. Far too often it is difficult or impossible to locate a staff. Although there is some very warm, caring and compassionate staff there seems to be a general lack of understanding of dementias and related behaviours. Staff have described my mother as being uncooperative, difficult, unpredictable, etc. all comments I find very subjective and not helpful.
