On October 21st, 2010 at 6:38PM Kathleen Ward posted the following:

My mother was there for 3 weeks in 2005. She developed a bedsore that I believe was caused from her not being able to move herself (she had broken a hip and an elbow). She was not able to stand and although she was not incontinent when she was admitted there, they did not take her to the washroom when she requested. At night they put her in diapers and when I got there about 9:30 am she would still be in her wet diaper unable to move or take it off. I would go and ask them to change her but there was always some other thing they had to do first (I will change her when I finish giving out the meds etc) I understand that they are extremely busy but there wasn't any other diapers/special pads for her air bed in the room. I said I would go get some more if they would tell me where they were. They said they were in cupboard that was outside. I couldn't believe it. I said that if a baby needed diapers you don't just buy two, you have an entire package. I was told that they were very expensive. I cannot write what I told that person. The rooms were very small and I was told there was not enough room for my mother to have a tv. Staff barely acknowledged me although I was there 3 times a day providing the care that they did not. Spend that kind of time in any NH and you will be able to judge very well the quality of care. After 3 weeks, and several lock downs for illness, my mother was finally moved to True Davidson Acres...where she lived out the rest of her life (one and a half years). The staff were caring and nursed that bedsore from the size of a coaster to the size of a thimble but it never quite completely healed before she passed away. My mother was treated with dignity and I am so glad I moved her.
