My father was in Victoria Village for a few years. During this time our family had difficulty getting answers to our concerns or issues raised. PSWs did not seem to communicate between shifts. Administration personnel was cold and distant and did not seem to want to hear suggestions. At the end of my fathers life, the doctors were inaccessible, palliative care was inadequate and confusing and pain management was a struggle to get and minimal at best. It was a horrible experience and my father suffered needlessly.

I would strongly urge anyone considering placing a loved one in this place, to seriously reconsider. The reasons are to long and to many. Bad administration, neglect, uneducated and uncaring.

I would not recommend this facility to anyone who is considering the ongoing care and maintenance of an elderly relative with mobility or cognitive issues. An enema adminstered by staff caused peri-anal laceration and infection leading to pre-mature death. Staff denied or were ambivalent about the injurious procedure.

Victoria Village Manor's Ministry of Health & LTC inspection findings are not accurately reflected in the Government Reports section of this site. There has since been 4 more non-compliance issues identified. MAKE SURE YOU DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU HAVE A LOVED ONE WAREHOUSED HERE! When I inquired about why this site is not updated this is the response I was given: On July 1, 2010 the new Long Term Care Homes Act 2007 was implemented. This implementation changed the way that Long-Term Care homes are inspected, and the standards they have to meet to be in compliance with this new Act. As a result, the reports and criteria the MOHLTC is required to report publicly has to be adapted to this new process. The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care is currently revising the Public Reporting site to show the updated Long-Term Care (LTC) home Inspection findings from July 2010 to present. When this update of the site is complete, the inspection reports will be current as of the day the site is viewed. The current inspection information for LTC homes can always be requested through contacting your local Service Area Office or the home Administrator listed on the Public Reporting website. If requested, LTC homes are required under the Long-Term Care Homes Act 2007 to provide any resident or member of the public with their most current inspection report.
